part 2

Some people might be wondering why I said I had gone too college when in fact I did not. Well the way I am writing this story is broken in two parts, the first paragraph will be what I actually did, the the second will be what I should have done with my life so its like non fiction/fiction. So here goes with part two....

After our show with Trivium we really kicked shit into gear. We started practicing and writing every single day of the week. We wanted to slay if we ever got into a position to play for a label. Well about two months after our show I was sitting at work and got a call from Monte Conner. Now I was a bit star struck seeing as how I was talking to the guy who signed ever band I ever loved. He basically told me we sucked and needed a producer. Now most people would have just hung it up there and quit, but if its one thing I'm not its a quiter when I see something I want. I immediately got off the phone with Monte and called Matt from Trivium.I told Matt about our conversation and asked if I could get his producers number. He gave me the number for Jason Suecoff a metal producer from Sanford Florida. I called Jason and gave him the bands myspace page, he said he would call me back in a few days after he listened too the songs. Well not ten minutes later Jason called back wanting too know when we could start on demo's. I should have taken a step back at this point and looked at what we were getting into, and if we were ready. But I didn't , instead I dove in head first (thats how bands get signed right?). I did get my boner under control enough to ask about $. He said it would be 5 grand for 3 songs. This may not seem like alot to some people but when you are a band of 4 poor kids its closer to a million. I hung up with Jason and shit my pants (not literally). Called the rest of my band mates, and they all had the same reaction I did about the money, I told them we would work it out. And some how we did. Between my guitar players mom Mrs. Punchy (don't ask) and bake sales, car washes and about 18 shows in a month we did it. Yeah im not even kidding about the bake sales seriously! We had our 5 grand and booked the time with Jason.

After my phone interview with seventeen I borrowed 20 bucks and my dads porsche keys and headed out on the town. 20 bucks isn't alot to go drinking on unless you buy a twelve pack and randomly go out and chug beers in the car (man I miss college). I hooked up with my posse at a local pub, and scammed on chicks all night, lying to them all telling them I was senior editor for seventeen magazine. You wouldn't believe how many sluts read that magazine. After a long night of humping my brains out I left blonde girls house and headed home. When I got home my dad was pissed I hadn't come home (once again miss college life) all night and told me he would ground me if I did it again, seriously I was 23. After berating me about what I had done all night, and I lied about staying at my buddies house he accepted the lie and told me I had a message on the answering machine from some chick magazine. I ran to answering machine hit play and relaxed into a comfy arm chair. The message was from seventeen giving me all my flight info for the next day. Holy shit tomorrow? Time to pack and head to the meca of journalism. Woot woot!
